Are you watching the Super Bowl today? Might you be enjoying a few beers or cocktails during the game? My husband and his friends always call it the Stupor Bowl because of the propensity for some to use the event as an excuse to over-imbibe.

| Mmmm, beer! |
We are attending a Super Bowl party hosted by friends of my husband, two
brothers who have a "cabin" near our country home. It's a huge log
house halfway up a mountain and it will be packed to the rafters with
people, most of whom arrived on Friday evening. I swear we can hear them from our home half a mile away, hooting and hollering since Friday.

I am always impressed by the older brother who mingles about keeping an
eye on everything and everyone to ensure safety and merriment for
all, an important task given the rustic topography and steep drop down to
the road and river below, not to mention various wildlife that calls this area home.

| My Starting Lineup: Pear Vodka, Lemon Vodka, Tanteo Jalapeno Tequila, Orange Vodka and Vanilla Vodka |
I always bring something to the cabin parties. This time I will be mixing up three popular cocktails by the pitcher. My versions are low calorie compared to the standard version of these drinks but I'll just keep that to myself since the taste is pretty close to the original and the alcohol content is the same. I'll bring all my ingredients in boxes and coolers and I have full use of the wet bar, which has great sight lines to the big screen TV. Here are the skinny cocktail recipes, give them a try if you are so inclined. All measurements are for a single serving.
Skinny Margarita
Ingredients
90 calories
1 oz jalapeño tequila
1/2 oz pear nectar
1 lime, juiced
1 tsp orange zest

In a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice, add the four ingredients.
Shake until the shaker is frosted. Strain into a glass filled with ice. Garnish with a lime wedge on glass rim.

Enjoy the game!

I hope you have fun... it sounds like an ideal party place. Love your recipes, they seem to be very low in sugar yet quite fruity.
ReplyDeleteI don't drink any hard alcohol, only white wine or sparkling wine, but I'm going to bookmark this so I can make skinny cocktails for my girlfriends sometimes, thanks for sharing!
I hope you enjoy the game. I can't wait, though I am not a Madonna fan so I'll be skipping the half-time show most likely. I wish it was Bruce Springsteen instead!
Ah Dani, wouldn't it be great to have The Boss for the halftime show? Super Fabulous! I'm not going to watch Madonna either. I remember dancing to Ray Of Light as a teen but it doesn't hold up today.
DeleteI like a cocktail now and then but they are usually loaded with sugar or soda pop, two things no one needs more of in their diet. The margarita is my favorite. Enjoy the game!
I have to the the margarita. I was buying the skinny girl mix from the store and it is pricey. I bet its a way cheaper to make at home.
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely drink options. That margarita looks great, but i like the idea of the sangria too. Thanks for sharing! hope you enjoyed the game! :)
ReplyDeleteToo bad I only read it after the game, your margarita recipe looks like my kind of drink. Thanks!
