I have been working like mad to prepare transition activities for our departmental reorganization at the end of Q1. I blogged about the stress of the corporate change in THIS POST.
Now I need to travel to London and my manager asked if
it's possible I could swing round a couple of other locations while I'm
over to help with transition activities in those countries.
Business travel is a regular responsibility in my job but I am already working 12+ hours/day and taking the travel time and meetings into account just adds to the workload, never mind jet lag, lack of exercise and eating in restaurants, or more likely room service whilst sharing a glass of wine with my laptop into the wee hours. Thankfully the big push is on and things will look different starting in April. I'll likely still travel but the job itself will be different.
I have a couple of posts lined up but they are not finished. If I have some personal time I'll post and if not, I'll update the blog when I get back.
This trip I am visiting Luxembourg, a first for me. I'll also stop in Belgium, which I have visited twice in the past. Fortunately I am in transit during weekday late afternoons and evenings so I have almost two full weekends to myself, outside of catching up on work. I plan to visit my favorite European shops including a stop at Hermès for a new scarf, which is what I usually bring home as my travel souvenir.
I wish you a safe and wonderful trip, even though much of it is business. I will look forward to any comments you are able to make regarding your shopping adventures. I have tried to find the Hermes scarf you purchased when last in Europe...the mostly purple one with a purse on it...as I loved it but have had no luck so far. You will be missed as you always have so very much to contribute!!
ReplyDeleteBon voyage! Wishing you a safe trip. I hope you have some free time when in Luxembourg - it's lovely.
ReplyDeleteI am also wishing you a safe trip! I can't wait to see the Hermes you find on your trip. My friend Berna, (I blogged about her packing up before she went to Spain) bought her first Hermes while she was away, it's just stunning. I'm hoping to buy another one when I go to Paris in October. And of course another tie for my Honey too.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Honey, I know you'll miss your husband as well, if you find time to blog on top of everything else you are going to be swamped with, well how lucky are we. If you don't have time don't worry, we'll all be waiting when you get back!
Bon voyage!
Safe travels! I hope it's not as harried as you think it will be.
ReplyDeleteSafe journeys! hope you won't have any unforeseen snags, and I'm looking forward to seeing a new scarf.
ReplyDeleteDo you speak French or German? I have been to Luxembourg and they do speak English but it is not an official language there. Oh well, I'm sure you are prepared. I look forward to reading all about it and seeing the treasures you bring home. Bon voyage!
ReplyDeleteI have never been to Europe so I love to read about your travels and adventures in the corporate world. If I could go back in time I would take an M.B.A. and work in business management. It seems a lot more interesting than my boring job.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you can take some OOTD photos to post when you get back so we can see what you are wearing over there.
Have a safe trip and enjoy any free time that you get.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Take those weekends and run with them. :) JEn
ReplyDeleteI had missed your corporate change post but went back to read it, including every reply you made on comments. Corporate reorgs with multiple manager changes and having to reapply for jobs, arrgh, been there done that (and still doing that). If you don't mind a bit of advice from someone who used to travel a lot for business, drink only water and eat lightly on flights to avoid jet lag. And ask if your hotel will prepare you a big plate of steamed or lightly sauteed seasonal vegetables when you tire of heavier meals. You have an amazing attitude and will have nothing but success in your new job. Good luck, safe travels. Try to enjoy some time away from work and we'll be waiting to hear more when you have time to post.
ReplyDeleteSafe travels to you, and I hope that you are able to have some fun and de-stress in your downtime! Can't wait to see the pics when you return :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great trip and bundle up! It's been a wicked winter across the pond this year.
ReplyDeleteI am also wishing you safe travels, xoxo! Have fun on your exploration weekends...can't wait to see your new scarf! :)
ReplyDeleteYour trip sounds like fun! You sure pack a lot into life with your busy job, cooking, managing two houses and blogging too. If you could bottle up your energy and sell it you could make millions. Is your husband coming to join you on this trip? How do you find it navigating foreign cities to go out shopping and sight seeing on your own?
ReplyDeleteHave a safe and pleasant journey.
Business travel can be so absolutely exhausting - I feel for you! Hopefully there is an end in sight and it looks like you are being trusted with a lot of responsibility... :)
ReplyDeleteI hope everything works out well. Let us know about the fashion overseas and as you've read, we're all waiting for the scarf pics!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun it is to be you! Certainly not all fun but you must enjoy this trip, you're moving onward and upward very soon. I love Luxembourg and emailed you some ideas, if you have the time. Take care and have some fun. I am looking forward to your safe return and future posts.
ReplyDeleteHave a great trip! Write when you can. Travel is overrated, I agree. After the first year, it wore its novelty off for me.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sense of style and very nice blog! Congratulations on your work!
ReplyDeleteWould you like to follow each other?
xoxo,
Fashionhypnotised girl
I saw your comment on the mothership this weekend. I'd love to see your "do not buy" list if you ever put it into a post.
